What is Nutritional Science?

It is important that people have the knowledge to make the right food choices when eating at home and away from home. Graduates from the Department of Nutrition and Food Science enter careers where they help develop, distribute, and market foods that people want to eat; find out how foods (and nutrients) work in our bodies to promote health; and teach people to choose foods (and lifestyles) to help them achieve a greater level of health.

The curriculum in Nutritional Sciences provides students with an opportunity to study and understand the manner in which nutrition affects human health, behavior and disease. We will help you prepare to enter a rapidly growing and exciting field that allows you to build a strong background for many career opportunities such as dietetics, nutrition research, medicine, public health, or the food industry.
